If you’re in town in San Diego, be sure to try stand-up paddle boarding (SUP)!
Take the family out for a little Sunday fun or hang out with some friends at the beach for some SUP.
If you do a GroupOn search for paddle board rentals, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of deals. Just pick the one you like best and try it out! There are deals where you can take a lesson for SUP or rent the paddle board.
My boyfriend and I decided to paddle board on Mission Bay and we chose to rent the board since we had “some” experience. I say “some” because our first time, my boyfriend paddled for almost an hour and I sat on the board because I was too afraid to stand up. I didn’t get the balancing part down and I was afraid to fall in, mainly because I can’t swim! I know, it’s something that needs to be learned and I will, someday.
If you’re brave enough to learn on your own, rent the board instead of doing the lessons. It’s also a good idea to watch some videos on it to give you an idea. Once you get the hang of it, it’s tons of fun—relaxing being in the water and enjoying the view.
Be sure to wear sunscreen and reapply!
We chose a nice, grassy, uncrowded area to have a little picnic at.
What’s your experience with stand-up paddle boarding? Did you like it or hate it?
