How to Make Mike Wazowski from Monsters, Inc. from Felt

“Scary feet, scary feet, scary feet!” says Mike Wazowski.

It’s almost that time again, Halloween!

I’ll show you how to make a Mike Wazowski plush from Monsters, Inc. out of felt!

Materials

Felt sheet, 9” x 12” (neon green, white, black)

Poly-fil fiber filling

Thread

Needle

Scissors

Fabric marker

Fabri-Tac (optional for no-sew)

1. Cut out the pattern pieces and trace onto the felt sheet. With your fabric marker, trace the pattern pieces to the corresponding felt colors. For the neon green felt, I folded the sheet in half and traced the body pattern piece. It saves on time having to trace 2 pieces.

2. Cut out all the felt pieces. At this point, decide whether to sew or use Fabri-Tac to combine the pieces.

3a. Sew the pattern pieces. Thread the needle, double knot the ends and start with the eye. Combine the pupil and iris and use a whip stitch. Then attach the eye and mouth to the front body piece with a whip stitch and set aside. For the horns, start at the base and blanket stitch all around. Leave an opening at the bottom, about an inch for stuffing and blanket stitch around. Use a straight stitch when attaching the horns then continue the blanket stitch.

3b. Glue the pattern pieces. With the Fabri-Tac to glue the pieces together. Squeeze some glue along the edges of the pupil and place it onto the iris. Add more glue along the edges of the combined eye and place it on the front body piece. Glue the mouth to the body piece. Leave an opening at the bottom, about an inch and add glue to the edges of the back body piece. Add the horns. Place the front body piece on top of the back body piece. (Glue the opening after stuffing)

4. Stuff Mike Wazowski! With the poly-fil fiber filling, stuff to your liking.

5. Sew the opening. Use a blanket stitch to close up the opening.

Enjoy your new Mike Wazowski!
